Dr. Maja Đurić, Montenegro
Associate Professor Dr. Maja Đurić was born in Cetinje. She graduated in 1993 at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade, at the Art History Department. She completed her postgraduate master studies in Prague at the Central European University, on Art History, Philosophy and Architecture, under the mentorship of Ian Jeffrey. She finished her doctoral studies at the University of Art in Belgrade in 2010, at the Media Theory Department.
In the working biography of Maja Djuric are included journalism, photo-journalism, art photography, editing as well as her role as a president of the Institute for Photography of Montenegro. Also, a significant part of her curriculum is dominated by lecturing at several domestic high schools, at the University of Montenegro (UCG), Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management Kotor, the Faculty of Visual Arts (UM) in Podgorica, the Faculty of Arts (UDG) in Podgorica, the NOVA Academy of Arts in Belgrade.
As an art historian, Maja Đurić was for a long time intensively engaged in the study of the cultural heritage of Montenegro, the history of photography and the theory of culture.
She is an author of numerous exhibitions, including the exhibition “Contemporary Montenegrin Photography”. She is one of the founders and the president of the Institute for Photography of Montenegro, Advisor for Montenegro in the European Guide to Photography (Germany, Gotingem), selector of the visual arts program “City of Theater Budva” (2008-2010), part of the team and exhibitor at the presentation of Montenegro – EXPO in Shangai 2010, etc. She is a member of the Association of Art Historians of Montenegro (Council for Publishing Activity) and a member of the Department of Social Sciences and the Committee for Ethnology at the Montenegrin Academy of Science and Arts.
