Tomislav Georgiev, Macedonia

Tomislav Georgiev was born in Bitola, Republic of Macedonia, on June 24, 1975. His interest in photography began since his college days, but he started working professionally in 1998 as a photo journalist in several student newspapers and continued working as a photo journalist and photo editor in “Fokus” weekly magazine (1998-present). He continuously tries to improve his photography skills as he attended Missouri University Seminar for photography and 3 years World Press Photo Seminar. His work has been published in many prestigious newspapers: “Le Monde”, “Sunday Times”, “Financial Times” “Der Spiegel”, etc. He has collaborated with the most famous world press agencies and participated in many group exhibitions and he is a lecturer at faculty of journalism and public relations. He has collaborated with the most famous world press agencies, domestic marketing agencies, and have experience working on many project hired by organizations like EU Commission, OSCE, World Bank.

Had participated on many group exhibitions Had one exhibition in Istanbul Slide Show Days in 2004, Antalya University in Turkey exhibition in 2007 and in Sofia on the subject “Focusing on the life of Roma in Europe”. In 2008 exhibition “Bikes”. Exhibition “Skopje colours” in 2011. “See new perspectives exhibition” in Sarajevo, Belgrade, Berlin in 2012. in 2013 exhibition in Berlin, Zagreb, Sarajevo and Vienna in 2014, and in Skopje in 2018.

During his career he has won many prestigious prizes, such as:

  • Grand Price in photography for 2004 in Macedonia

  • Grant Award from Stability Pact for Macedonia

  • UNDP Award for photography in 2006

  • Grant Award for Macedonia on ‘SEE New Perspectives. Masterclass for professional photographers from South-eastern Europe’ of World Press Photo and the Robert Bosch Stiftung in 2010/2011

  • First place for photography on “2/Two” contest

  • Third place in the photo category of the International Roma exclusion Contest 2012 for series of pictures, CHILDREN – HOPE FOR THE FUTURE

  • First place for photography on US Embassy contest “The sound of silence” for the occasion of World Press Freedom Day in 2012

  • Winner of 2012 Jean Monnet Media Award in Macedonia

  • Winner of International contest “Impunity Exposed Photo Contest 2013″

  • Master class for professional photographers in “DokuFest”, Prizren Kosovo in 2013
